Charming Picturesque Clovelly
Clovelly is an old 14 century village that tumbles down the side of the cliff to the harbour below. The hillside is so steep that there are no cars in the village, and goods are transported up and own on sleds! With its cobbled streets and quaint, historic cottages the village offers a glimpse into a different era gone by. The main street through the village is appropriately called 'Up a Long' or 'Down a Long,' and what goes down must come up, so visitors need to be prepared for a very steep climb back up to the car park! The side streets offer more picturesque treasures in this unique village. The village is actually privately owned and there is a small entrance fee.
