Hartland Quay—outstanding natural beauty

Hartland Quay is situated on the South West Coastal path and the surrounding area is designated as ‘Heritage Coastline’ and as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. The  walks along the rugged cliffs, with their extensive coastal panoramas and abundance of wild flowers are marvelous. If you are lucky you will see  peregrine falcons on the cliffs, and oyster catchers, cormorants and seagulls are all around. Buzzards  and roe deer can be seen in the woodlands. On a windy day, the waves crashing against the rocks provide spectacular viewing.

There are plenty of walks that you can undertake from Hartland Quay. I recommend the circular walk from Hartland Quay to Speke's Mill Waterfall (details and photos to follow on another post.)

Finish your exploring with a drink or a meal at the Wreckers' Retreat Pub, situated right at the Quay. And at evening time, you can watch the sun sink  into the sea.

Ah, a blissful day!
