Beautiful Fremington Quay and the River Taw

Situated on the Tarka Trail, and with panoramic views of the River Taw, Fremington Quay is just a gentle stroll from our house. Breathe in the peaceful atmosphere as the sun starts to set, or if you like fishing, that's possible too. You'll often bump into some bird-spotters who are usually very happy to explain the different birds you are likely to see. The Taw/Torridge Estuary has the third largest concentration of waders in Devon. Specialties are European Golden Plover, with a possibility of Glossy Ibis.

Fremington Quay Cafe is a favourite spot for lunch or an afternoon coffee or ice-cream.  When the weather is nice, you can sit outside and enjoy the view at the same time.

The small creek known as Fremington Pill with its moored boats and the odd wreck, comes out at Fremington Quay. Do remember that the Taw at this point is tidal, so if you want to enjoy the river at it's best, check the tide times.  Fremington Pill turns into mud at low tide. But high or low tide, Fremington Quay is always beautiful.  And remember, the Tarka Trail passes right through the Quay, so cycling enthusiasts can walk down from our house and join the trail right there.
